The 2019 I/DD Executive Summit, our fourth created in partnership with OPEN MINDS, offered a combination of industry-relevant topics, outstanding speakers, and networking opportunities… leading one participant to share that it was, “Another top notch event!”
Our lineup of speakers included industry experts across the behavioral healthcare sector, including:
- Matt Pettinelli, Founder/CEO, CapGrow Partners
- John Boynton, Vice President, Aetna Medicaid
- Tine Hansen-Turton, President & CEO, Woods Services
- Jeff Klimaski, President & COO, The Columbus Organization
- Tonya Copeland, Vice President, IDD Services & Employment & Community First CHOICES, United Healthcare

- Bruce Block, M.D., Chief Learning and Medical Informatics Officer, Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative
- Carli Friedman, Ph.D., Director of Research, CQL | The Council on Quality and Leadership
- Monica E. Oss, CEO, OPEN MINDS
Topics for the Summit included: managed care finance and delivery models; wholistic care models for I/DD populations; quality systems and performance management; and strategies for sustainability in a risk-based market. Attendee feedback about the sessions was decidedly positive, with the majority saying it provided valuable material from knowledgeable experts.
“I left the Summit energized and excited about the things I heard.” ~ 2019 Summit attendee
The tremendously successful happy (half) hour and reception in 2018 proved, yet again, to be key in allowing attendees to the opportunity to unwind, catch up with colleagues, build new relationships within the industry, and chat about ideas shared by speakers and other attendees throughout the day. We had an overwhelming response that the times we scheduled during the day to allow attendees to mingle was a crucial and enjoyable part of the Summit, and we will continue to incorporate occasions for networking in future I/DD Executive Summits.
“For any I/DD org needing fresh input on what the future might look like, this event is a must to attend.” ~ 2019 Summit attendee
